The STATE FUNERAL of SAM RATULANGIE

Previous post The RECOVERY of SAM RATULANGIE’s SARGE

As the funeral of Sam Ratulangie in 1949 was under hard conditions…. the Dutch were still there (although in the form of the Negara Indonesia Timur) and everything was observed and reported carefully by the agents of the NEFIS and the PID (Politieke Inlichtingen Dienst). In 1986 it was the contrary. After 37 years everything has changed and it is indeed (as I see it now) a funeral worth of for a personality as SAM RATULANGIE.

The family members were standing on the side of the sarge and there was an “Ibadah pelepasan” that is  the prayers before leaving the house for the funeral was led by Ds. DR. Roeroe :

After the prayer the sarge was carried downstairs where young man and spectators were already waiting (the night before it had rained heavily and therefore the location was a bit uncomfortable)

On this occasion I, representing my sisters and brother, sincerely want to thank all people who have participated from the beginning until its realization and finalization of the relocation of the tomb of my father:  SAM RATULANGIE  during the period 1985-1986
